The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad or IIMA is a Business School of the public type, and was founded in 1961 situated in Vastrapur, Ahmedabad. MHRD, Government of India has given IIM Ahmedabad an Institute of National Importance status. The European Foundation Management Development accredited Ahmedabad IIM campus as the first B-School in the year 2003.
History: In 1964, a 2-year PG degree in Business Administration came into existence as a flagship program.
Rankings: Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad Gujarat is ranked 1st by NIRF 2025 under the Management category, 1st for the Executive MBA by Business Today 2024, and again 1st by Outlook 2025 under the Top Public B-School in India category. Globally, the IIM A Ahmedabad is ranked 27 by the QS WUR Ranking By Subject 2025.

There is a good chance of receiving an interview call from IIM Ahmedabad, however, admission isn’t guaranteed even at 100 percentile. The overall criteria includes academic profile, that is your Class 12, Class 10 and graduation marks. The college also gives a score for work experience, hence, candidates must have 2-3 years of experience to get maximum points. Additional focus is also given to gender and academic diversity. Considering all these factors and candidates’ CAT score, IIM Ahmedabad prepares a composite score through which decides whether to finalise a student or not.
